The genesis of the idea to start our private tour company comes from our interest in providing the opportunity to our many friends and family members who said that they wished they could have joined us on a trip or visited when we lived abroad. Therefore, we have decided to organize two or three custom group tours annually. With a passion for sharing travel experiences with others, we’d love to have you join us and…Let Us Take You Places!
RICK
After working in resorts in The Carolinas and earning a degree in Resort Management from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rick entered the world of academia. As one of the early faculty members to support the opening of RIT’s branch campus in Dubrovnik, Croatia in 1997, Rick has worked on-and-off in the region since 1998. From living and teaching, to research and leading study abroad trips, Dubrovnik holds a special place in his heart. Rick’s work there has included projects with the East West Institute on cross-border institution building for tourism in the Balkans. In addition, through a U.S. Department of State fellowship, Rick studied privatization of the lodging sector in Croatia during the country’s transition to a market economy.
Since 2006, Rick has utilized Dubai, United Arab Emirates as a tourism learning environment. This has consisted of research, and organizing and leading eight student groups to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Rick has also lectured, taught, and led study abroad programs in Costa Rica, Italy, Kosovo, Dominican Republic, and Peru. His proudest reward from working abroad is seeing the success of so many former students as they strive to make their home economies more vibrant and sustainable.
CLARE
Clare has always had a passion for travel that was fostered by her degree in Geography and a semester abroad in Valencia, Spain. Following employment with Piedmont Airlines and American Express, Clare met Rick in graduate school at Rochester Institute of Technology. After graduating, Clare entered academia as the Travel & Tourism Program Director at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. During that time, she led and organized nine trips to the Caribbean and Europe, and she and Rick spent a summer teaching in Tel Aviv, Israel.
After living abroad with their young family in Dubrovnik, Clare and Rick moved back to Rochester, NY and Clare started working as Director of the Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Management program at Genesee Community College. She then jumped at the opportunity to help operate the newly- opened RIT campus in Pristina, Kosovo, and later created the corporate travel department for a telecommunications company. Clare believes that travel is the best education people can get. For her, the greatest benefit of sharing travel with others is witnessing how exposure to new peoples and their cultures, as well as exploring diverse environments brings a newfound appreciation for, and increased tolerance of others.
